Cong leader express solidarity with Palestine, burn Israeli flag
Prayagraj, May 15 (HS): Congress workers, led by senior party leader Irshad Ullah, gathered in Prayagraj’s Bahadurganj locality on Friday and set the Israeli flag on fire, following the Covid-19 protocol.
Anti-Israel and anti-US slogans were chanted by the protesters. They dubbed Israel the world’s biggest “terrorist” state. They also called for a boycott of Israeli goods. During the holy month of Ramadan, Congress leader Irshad Ullah decried Israel’s use of force against Palestinians at the Al-Aqsa mosque compound in Jerusalem.
“The attacks on the Al-Aqsa mosque compound, one of Islam’s holiest sites are the most compelling evidence of Israel’s discriminating and criminal nature,” he said. He accused Israel of fomenting “regional insecurity” and urged a “people vote” in the Palestinian territories as “the only just solution to the Palestinian issue” that would allow Palestinians to select “their own fate.”
“What we have seen is, clearly and plainly, an Israeli occupation provocation that targeted the holiest Islamic sanctuaries at the most sacred time,” he said, referring to the Muslim holy month of Ramadan. He urged the international community to hold Israel accountable for the escalation and to pressure it to stop assaults that jeopardize “regional security and stability.”
