Cape Town,04 May(HS): Former South Africa captain Faf du Plessis said that he is committed to playing in all three formats of cricket in the 2020/21 season.
Speaking to Cricket South Africa on Monday, Du Plessis said, “I still like to play for South Africa. I still see myself adding great value.”
He said, I am very keen and motivated to play in all three formats. After being away from the game for a long time, it has been ensured that I still have a lot of hunger to play cricket. Really you want to do what you love. ”
Du Plessis said that he misses the captaincy very much but he will play the role of mentor for the new generation.
He said, “I love captaincy, it’s a part of who I am. I’ve been captaining since the age of 13. I still see myself as a mentor as a player. I Enjoying this thing more than anything.”
Du Plessis, who played captain in place of AB de Villiers in 2016, won 18 of 36 Tests to South Africa under his captaincy.
Faf du Plessis was removed from the captaincy position in the limited-overs format, and was replaced by wicketkeeper batsman Quinton de Kock. South Africa will play a Test series against the West Indies in late July, for which the team is looking for a new Test captain.
