Colonel Rajan Manocha memorial inaugurated at Prayagraj
PRAYAGRAJ, January 20 (HS): Colonel Rajan Manocha memorial was inaugurated by his wife Sonu Manocha at Mela Parade Ground Prayagraj on Wednesday. This memorial was raised under the guidance of Major Gen IM Lamba, GOC Purva UP & MP Sub Area. During this ceremony, wreaths were laid by Maj Gen IM Lamba, GOC Purva UP & MP Sub Area, KP Singh, IG Prayagraj, Bhanu Chandra Goswami, DM Prayagraj and Colonel Vivek Debas, Commandant OD Fort.
During the event financial assistance were distributed to 10 needy veteran widows and 10 handicapped wards of veterans. Major General IM Lamba, GOC addressed the veteran’s fraternity. During his address he appreciated contributions and sacrifices made by ex servicemen and Veer Naris and reiterated that the welfare and well being of Veterans was a focus area for all three services. He emphasised on the need to reconnect with our veterans and veer naris, who are source of motivation for the current generation. He informed about various programmes and efforts being undertaken to reach out to them viz., registration on DIAV portal, undertaking and streamlining various outreach programmes. He reiterated that the aim of the event is to send out a clear message to our Veterans that the nation and the armed forces cares about them.
“As a nodal officer for Kumbh 2019, Colonel Rajan Manocha played a pivotal role in coordinating exceptional security and administrative arrangements for crores of piligrim who visited ‘Sangam’. Attributable to his scrupulous planning and persistent efforts, Kumbh 2019 was first in many ways especially since Akshayvat and Saraswati Koop were permanently opened for public. This memorial will always remind us about contribution made by the Officer,” said Shailendra Pandey, Wing Commander, PRO Defence Prayagraj while speaking to HS during inauguration ceremony.
