Cold wave plays havoc , Many trains affected by Fog….

New Delhi, Dec 24 (HS): The shivering winter continues in North India. From Kashmir to Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, a cold wave is about to wreak havoc.

The cold wave is now affecting many trains. 16 trains are running late. According to the railways, 16 trains including Katihar-Amritsar Express, Farakka Express, Malwa Express, Rewa Express, Sampurnakranti Express, Swaraj Express, Purva Express, Chennai-Nizamuddin Duronto, Howrah Jaisalmer Express, Chennai-New Delhi GT Express is running for 3 to 6 hours late.

Trains that are running late also include Puri-New Delhi Express, Darbhanga-New Delhi Saptakranti Express, Allahabad-New Delhi Humsafar Express, Howrah-New Delhi Purva Express, Bhagalpur-Anand Vihar Vikramshila Express, Patna-New Delhi Sampoorna Kranti Express, Jayanagar-New Delhi, Mumbai-Katra Swaraj Express, Chennai-New Delhi GT Express, Hyderabad-New Delhi Express, Chennai-Nizam Din Express, and Howrah-Jaisalmer Express.

Due to the effect of icy winds coming from the mountains, there is a severe cold in the plains of North India. The maximum temperature in the capital of Delhi is also recorded 4.5 degrees below normal and the minimum temperature is also expected to fall for the next few days. In Rajasthan, a person has died due to cold. In Churu, Rajasthan, the snow has started freezing on tree plants. Although the minimum temperature here is about 3 degrees above zero.

Cold wave continued in various parts of Haryana and Punjab. Haryana is the coldest state with the temperature reaching 1.7 degrees Celsius. Bathinda is the coldest place in Punjab with a minimum temperature of 4.4 degrees.

The night was very cold in Haryana with Sirsa 5.3, Rohtak 7, Bhiwani 6.1, Hisar 6.8, Karnal 7.5 and Ambala 6.9 degrees Celsius. The night was very cold in Punjab with Amritsar 5, Gurdaspur 5, Faridkot 5.5, Ludhiana 7.7 and Patiala 7.7 degrees Celsius.

Night temperatures in Adampur and Pathankot were 8.9 and 8.6, respectively, around normal. Chandigarh, the capital of both states, recorded a minimum temperature of 9.1 degrees Celsius. The Meteorological Department official said that in both these states, including Chandigarh, visibility was low due to fog at most places.
