CM Yogi reviews Covid-19 arrangements, ask officials to pull up their socks
PRAYAGRAJ, April 10 (HS): Afte re-writing a success story during Covid-19 pandemic last year, Uttar Pradesh is back to fight against the second surge of coronavirus a year after, mainly due to the laxity on part of the people and complacency developed after the arrival of indigenous vaccines.
Chief Minister, Yogi Adityanath arrived here on Friday and held a review meeting to take stock of arrangements and contain the spread of Corona. He visited the Integrated Command and Control Centre (ICCC) and reviewed strategy deployed by the authorities to check the spread of Corona, suggested ways for prevention, progress of treatment and vaccination process.
He directed health and administrative authorities to ensure availability of best treatment on time to patients in hospitals. He laid stress on contact tracing and accelerating the pace of Covid testing process to contain the spread. Those arriving from other states should be compulsorily tested and their contact tracing should be carried out.
“If a Corona positive patient is located then 25 meter of the area to be declared containment. If another person is detected in the same area then the containment zone will be extended to 50 meters,” he said and laid stress in ensuring all arrangement in L-2 and L-3 hospitals.
He instructed health and administrative authorities to ensure best arrangements in hospitals along with sufficient supply of oxygen. He also gave strict instructions to ensure availability of ambulances and should reach the patient as when and emergency arises. He also warned against negligence in running effective ambulance services and action will be taken against those responsible. He asked the hospitals to ensure that CCTV cameras are functioning and actively monitored.
Anticipating a return of people to villages due to the panchayat polls, and as rural areas are throwing up about 50% of the total cases being reported from the state, Yogi said that ‘nigrani committees’ should be activated to keep a check on those who are returning and on home isolation case.
Nigrani committees, set up in rural areas, are being reactivated to keep a check on those people returning to UP from other states for panchayat elections, festivals or other reasons. They will also help in monitoring patients in home quarantine. The CM helpline will be used proactively to keep a check on patients who are in home quarantine.
Public address systems will be used to create awareness among the people about the coronavirus and ways of protecting oneself from it. This would include messages on wearing of masks, proper sanitisation and maintaining social distancing. The CM ordered strict action against anyone caught without a mask in public places.
All district magistrates and chief medical officers have been directed to hold daily meetings at the integrated command and control centres to review daily Covid-19 conditions in their areas and to prepare containment strategies accordingly. The chief minister’s office will take daily reports of these meetings.
