Lucknow, 24 April  (HS) :    Amidst the COVID-19 outbreak, Uttar Pradesh is trying its best to counter the impact of the pandemic on economic and regional stability. Realising the serious threat to lives and livelihoods, the state under the leadership of Yogi Adityanath has developed effective strategies to address the financial challenges posed by the coronavirus.

The Treasury Department, across the state, is sparing no effort to make sure the economic system of the state remains strong. Full care is being taken to ensure that there is no delay in the financial help from the government’s schemes.

According to a spokesperson of the state government the employees of the Treasury Department are rigorously working day and night to make sure that the state’s people get the benefits of various government schemes and the salaries of employees, bill payment of various government departments, pension to widows, farmers, and Divyangs reached in their accounts on time.

He said that the Chief Minister is not only tirelessly working to make sure people to get proper treatment against this fatal disease but is also focusing on strengthening the economy of the state.

To make sure people do not face financial crisis during the corona pandemic, on behalf of the Treasury Department, as many as 14 lakh state employees and 12 lakh pensioners are getting their salaries and pensions on time, he said.

More than one crore widows, handicapped, leprosy, and farmers’ pension also reached into their accounts on time. For this, employees of the Treasury Directorate across the state are working 24 hours as frontline workers.

Chief Treasury Officer, Swatantra Kumar said that to make sure patients suffering from COVID-19 receive oxygen on time, an amount of Rs 20 crore was released by the Treasury Department to Northern Railway to make sure the oxygen tankers reach different cities on time.

Relief To Elderly Pensioner

The spokesperson said that the Yogi Government has already given a big relief to the retired government officers and employees to submit a survival certificate once a year. Keeping in view the corona pandemic, the facility of submission of online survival certificates of the pensioners was provided in all treasuries.

Elderly pensioners no longer have to run to the treasury or bank to submit the survival certificate, he said adding that last year, the postmen visited door-to-door to generate the digitised survival certificate of the elderly pensioners. The elders gave information about pension, pension payment order, bank account, mobile, and Aadhaar number, after which their digital survival certificate was issued.
