Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma distributed the first installment of grants to 25,000 entrepreneurs under the ‘Chief Minister’s Atmanirbhar Assam Yojana’ on Monday. The event, held at the Veterinary College Ground in Khanapara, marked a significant step in promoting self-employment in the state.
In his speech, the Chief Minister emphasized the government’s commitment to empowering local entrepreneurs. He handed over ₹75,000 to each selected entrepreneur as the first part of the total grant, which ranges from ₹2 lakh to ₹5 lakh. This financial support aims to boost small businesses and create more job opportunities.
Furthermore, the event saw the participation of key government officials, including ministers Ranjit Das and Atul Bora, as well as MP and MLA State BJP President Bhabesh Kalita. Their presence underscored the government’s united effort to support the entrepreneurs.
By offering these grants, the government aims to foster self-reliance and drive economic growth. The Chief Minister’s initiative reflects the broader vision of ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat,’ which seeks to strengthen local industries and reduce dependency on external sources.
The program is expected to significantly contribute to the state’s economic development by nurturing entrepreneurial spirit and providing financial backing to new business ventures. The entrepreneurs selected from various districts across Assam are now equipped with the resources needed to kickstart or expand their businesses, fostering a more resilient local economy.
