Kolkata,08 May(HS): One  Senior Officer of the Central Industrial Security Forces(CISF), posted as the head of the Central Security team at the Indian Museum here, died of  Covid-19  today, as reports of more and more security personnel getting affected of the killer disease across the country including in West Bengal, have started coming during the past few days.
The CISF Officer who was responsible for the overall security of the Indian Museum in the city and used to live in the Security barrack inside the Museum compound was found positive of Coronavirus following a swab test recently.
He was admitted to the city’s main Covid-19 hospital where he breathed his last this afternoon, official sources said but refused to disclose his identity as a pall of gloom has descended.
Soon the entire barrack where several other colleagues also lived were vacated and everybody was sent for two-week-long self-quarantine as a preventive measure.
Apart from sanitizing the entire Museum building and its adjoining areas and barricading the same to prevent any entry or exit of anyone, the Museum authorities closed all its offices for two weeks and asked all employees to work from home.
Incidentally, though many security personnel and police have been affected by Covid-19 pandemic in the city and elsewhere in the state, this was the first instance that one of them has lost his life, causing severe concern and panic among the people at large and particularly among the security personnel who have been working as Frontline warriors to beat the pandemic.
So far 79 people have lost their lives in the state and another 1,500 odd people got affected.
