Chilean cargo plane missing,38 people aboard…
Santiago , Dec 10 (HS): A cargo plane of the South American country of Chile’s Air Force went missing on Tuesday morning. A total of 38 people were on board the aircraft passing over Antarctica. The Chilean Air Force has informed the international agency about this and now the rescue operation is being carried out.
The aircraft of the Chilean Air Force that has gone missing is the C-130 Hercules. Which left from Punta Arenas in South Chile at 4.55 pm on Monday evening. But when the plane disappeared over Drake Passage over Antarctica at 6.13 pm, it disappeared.
According to the statement issued by the Chilean Airforce, the aircraft had a total of 38 people. It had 17 crew members and 21 passengers. Who are these travelers, their information has not been shared yet. According to the sources , the aircraft was going for logistic support at the Chilean airbase in Antarctica.
President Sebastián Piñera said on Twitter that he was with his defense and interior ministers at Air Force headquarters monitoring developments. General Eduardo Mosqueira of the Fourth Air Brigade told local media that a search was underway and a ship was in the area where the plane should have been when contact was lost.
Mosqueira said the aircraft would have been about halfway to the Antarctic base when it lost contact. No emergency signals had been activated, he said.
The Air Force posted a map on Twitter showing the approximate location of the plane before it went missing.
