Eli Sharabi, freed after 491 days in Hamas captivity, shared his harrowing experience at the United Nations Security Council. He described being chained, starved, and beaten, begging for food and basic needs. Sharabi, who lost his wife and daughters in Hamas’ October 7 attack, questioned the UN’s inaction and urged global leaders to secure the release of 59 remaining hostages.

He spoke in memory of fellow hostage Alon Ohel and his brother Yossi, killed in captivity. “Bring them all home. Now!” he demanded. The UK condemned Hamas but also criticized Israel’s actions, calling for an urgent ceasefire and humanitarian aid to Gaza.

France condemned Israeli bombings, while Russia’s UN envoy called Sharabi’s suffering unjustifiable. Meanwhile, Israeli airstrikes killed at least 85 Palestinians overnight, bringing the death toll to nearly 600 since the truce collapsed. Hamas retaliated with rocket fire, escalating tensions.

Israel reimposed a blockade on northern Gaza, restricting movement. Ground forces advanced near Beit Lahiya and Rafah, while Israel aimed to split Gaza by controlling the Netzarim corridor. The conflict continues to intensify.
