CCTV man isn’t my son: Father of Saif Ali Khan’s ‘attacker’ speaks out
Mohammad Ruhul Amin Fakir, the father of Shariful Islam Shehzad, defended his son, accused in the Saif Ali Khan stabbing case. He claimed his son has been wrongly implicated and the CCTV footage does not match Shariful’s appearance. “My son never keeps his hair long. I believe he is being framed,” Amin Fakir told IANS.
Shariful, originally from Bangladesh, moved to India due to political unrest in his home country. According to his father, he sought better opportunities and worked hard to earn a living. “He left Bangladesh to escape political turmoil. He worked in India and even received recognition from his employer,” Fakir explained.
Shariful initially worked in West Bengal but later moved to Mumbai for better pay in the hotel industry. Fakir stated his son simply aimed to support his family. Despite the serious allegations, Fakir revealed he has received no communication from Indian authorities. “We don’t know anyone in India and have no support here,” he added.
Amin Fakir said he last spoke to Shariful a day after the attack on Saif Ali Khan. Shariful regularly contacted his father after receiving his monthly salary. Fakir believes this pattern shows his son’s focus on his family and livelihood.
Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan suffered six stab wounds last Thursday during an attempted burglary at his Bandra home. He was rushed to Lilavati Hospital, where doctors removed a knife fragment from his body. Fortunately, he avoided severe injuries and was discharged after five days of treatment.
Mumbai Police arrested the accused, Shariful, from Thane on January 19. Authorities claimed Shariful was planning to flee to Bangladesh before his arrest.
While the police accuse Shariful of the attack, his father insists on his innocence. Fakir reiterated that his son has no criminal record and was only focused on providing for his family. “He is being wrongly accused. The CCTV footage doesn’t prove it’s him,” Fakir argued.
The case has raised questions about Shariful’s involvement and the circumstances of his arrest. As the investigation continues, Fakir remains firm in his belief that his son is innocent.
Mumbai Police are further investigating the incident to gather evidence and establish Shariful’s role. Meanwhile, the defense from his family highlights the need for a fair trial. Saif Ali Khan is recovering and has thanked fans for their support.
This case underscores the complexities of cross-border migration and the challenges faced by immigrants seeking better opportunities. As the legal process unfolds, the truth behind the stabbing incident remains a matter of public and legal scrutiny.
