CCTV Captures Terrorists Unleashing Assault Rifle Attack in Turkey
Five people were killed, and 22 others were injured in an attack on Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI) near Ankara on Wednesday. The attackers, a man and a woman, were captured on CCTV firing assault rifles before being “neutralized.”
Videos from the scene showed the attackers carrying bags and opening fire. A massive explosion rocked the state-run company’s headquarters. Unconfirmed reports suggest that one attacker detonated a suicide bomb. Media also reported gunfire exchanges lasting over an hour.
The attackers reportedly killed a taxi driver before using his vehicle for the assault. Four of the victims were TAI employees, and the fifth was the cab driver.
Though no group claimed responsibility immediately, Turkey’s Interior Minister, Ali Yerlikaya, stated it was likely carried out by Kurdish militants. He linked the attack to the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), a group involved in a long insurgency against the Turkish government.
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, while in Russia for talks, condemned the attack, calling it a “heinous” act aimed at Turkey’s defense industry. He described it as an attack on the nation’s peace and sovereignty.
Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz confirmed the victims’ identities and condemned the act as well. The investigation is ongoing, with Turkish authorities remaining on high alert.
