CBI opposes the regular bail pleas of 6 bureaucrats
New Delhi, Dec 17 (HS): The CBI has opposed the regular bail pleas of 6 bureaucrats in the INX Media case. These 6 bureaucrats were part of the FIPB, which approved INX Media during P Chidambaram’s tenure. At present, the court has extended the next date of hearing for interim bail of all the 6 bureaucrats till January 27.
During the brief court proceedings, the CBI opposed the bail plea filed on behalf of the six accused, stating that they can tamper with the evidence on bail. The court adjourned the hearing in the case when senior advocate Siddharth Luthra and advocate Vikas Kumar Pathak, appearing for the accused, sought time to debate the answer filed by the CBI.
Before these officers, the court granted bail to Karti Chidambaram. The court granted bail to 6 people, including former FIPB member Sindhushree Khullar, Pradeep Kumar Bagga, Prabodh Saxena, priest of Anup, Bhaskar Raman, CA Chidambaram’s son Karti Chidambaram, on a personal bond of Rs 2 lakh each.
Six former officers of FIPB were granted interim bail by the Rouse Avenue Court till the next hearing of the case. Karti Chidambaram was already granted bail by the court in this case. P Chidambaram has also got bail from the Supreme Court in the CBI case.
