CBI lodges FIR against arms dealer, Sanjay Bhandari
New Delhi, Jun.22 (HS): Tightening the noose against Robert Vadra, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has registered a case against his aide controversial arms dealer Sanjay Bhandari, unknown officials of Indian Air Force, Ministry of Defence and for alleged corruption in procurement of 75 Pilatus basic trainer aircraft in 2009, an FIR lodged in this connection says it.
The CBI also carried out out searches at the residence and office of Sanjay Bhandari in connection with the deal, officials of CBI said, today. Switzerland-based Pilatus Aircraft Ltd has also been named as an accused by the CBI in the case pertaining to the charges of irregularities and bribe of Rs 339 crore in the procurement, the FIR narrates.
An FIR lodged in this connection mentions that there is strong suspicion for Sanjay Bhandari involved in this scam because the several transactions have been made to Bhandari accounts by the said company for getting contracts from IAF, MoD and Government of India for the supply of 75 basic trainer aircraft.
FIR further mentions that aforesaid transaction involves several officials of Air Force, MoD and GOI so this overtly discloses commission of cognizable offence under section-120 (B), read with 420 of IPc.
