CBI arrests Delhi police S.I. for accepting bribe of Rs. 60,000.
New Delhi, Jan 16 (HS): The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested a sub-inspector of Delhi police for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs. 60k from a person on the pretext of settling his land dispute. The accused has been identified as Manjit Chillar, a sub-inspector posted at Kanjhawala police station.
According to the CBI officials, the police officer demanded a bribe of Rs. one lakh from the complainant for settling his land dispute. Following which the complainant approached the CBI and a trap was laid down to nab the police officer.
The officials further said that after negotiations, the amount was settled down to Rs. 80 thousand.
Subsequently, the CBI caught Manjit while demanding and accepting Rs. 60,000. A case of the bribe has been registered with the CBI and further investigations are on, said the CBI.
