Carona Virus – To Andhra Pradesh Via New Delhi
Amaravati(Andhra Pradesh),31 March (HS): The Jamaat Tablagi link mob surging coronavirus cases in Andhra Pradesh has become a major cause of concern for the state government.
Of the total of 17 cases tested positive on Single day of which 13 had been to the Nizamuddin Mosque in New Delhi to attend the Tablighi Jamaat conference held between 13-15 March.
Officially the state health dept released a list of 369 who attended the meet but it is reliably learnt that 711 people from Andhra Pradesh attended the conference While 122 people were quarantined in hospitals and 207 people in government quarantine centres, as many as 297 are house quarantined.
Prakasam district reported 11 positive cases — of which 10 are of those who attended the meeting — have identified as many as 280 from the district alone who attended the meeting with Kurnool following suit with 190 attendees.
Prakasam district authorities took up massive operations to trace those who got in contact with the patients and at the same time those who attended the conference. Kurnool, Guntur and Krishna districts also fare in the list of those who attended and now taken to quarantine centres where their samples were collected and sent for testing.
The state government has appealed to those who attended the Delhi meeting to come forward voluntarily for a coronavirus test. Failure to do so will invite action as per law. The Commissioner of Vijaywada Dwarka Tirumal Rao stated that curfew has been imposed to mobilise and track those Delhi returnees who are pretty reluctance and also to avoid hindrance from so-called custodians of faith who are preventing fellow co-religionists from co-operating with the state health dept.
The commissioner expressed concerned over the death of a Mecca returnee who died and also attended the Jamaat meet and later on turned out to be the case of virus-positive as his wife was detected Carona Positive.
Around 40 attended his funeral of which two are declared positive and reports of others are awaited. The deceased has been running the largest chat centre (Pani Puri) in KrishnaLanka Area of Vijaywada.
Meanwhile, two districts SPS (west and East Godavari) have launched a combing operation to flush out those take shelter in mosques aiming to dodge authorities and many are reportedly on the run.
