By-elections to 51 assemblies and 2 Lok Sabha seats in 18 states, including UP

New Delhi, Oct 21 (HS): Bypolls are being held in 51 assembly seats and 18 Lok Sabha seats in 18 states on Monday along with assembly elections in Maharashtra and Haryana. 

Among the assembly seats where by-elections are being held, 11 in Uttar Pradesh, 6 in Gujarat, 5 in Bihar, 4 in Assam and 2 in Himachal Pradesh, 2 in Tamil Nadu, 4 in Punjab, 5 in Kerala, 3 in Sikkim, 2 in Rajasthan. Seats included.

Apart from this, votes are being cast for each assembly seat in Arunachal Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Puducherry, Meghalaya, and Telangana. At the same time, by-elections are being held in Samastipur in Bihar and Satara Lok Sabha seat of 

Maharashtra. Voting will be from 7 am to 6 pm. The results will come on October 24.

The by-polls are being held on these seats of UP. The assembly seats of Uttar Pradesh are being held, Gangoh, Rampur, Igalas (reserved), Lucknow Cantt, Govindnagar, Manikpur, Pratapgarh, Zaidpur, Jalalpur, Balham and Ghost. A total of 110 candidates are contesting these seats from different parties. There is a possibility of a quadrangular contest in the by-election; Because BJP, BSP, SP, and Congress have fielded candidates in all seats.

Maharashtra elections Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and former Congress Chief Minister Ashok Chavan are among the prominent candidates in the Maharashtra elections. At the same time, Congress leader Prithviraj Chavan is contesting from Karad south of Satara district.

Uddhav Thackeray’s son and youth army chief Aditya Thackeray is contesting from Worli in Mumbai. 29-year-old Aditya is the first person from the Thackeray family to enter electoral politics.

On the other hand, Congress is expecting a return to power in Haryana. In Haryana, the Congress has changed its state president. At the same time, under the leadership of Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, BJP has set a target of winning 75 out of 90 seats. There are 1,169 candidates from various political parties in the state. The BJP currently has 48 members in the state assembly.
