Budget passed,UP Assembly adjourned sine die

Lucknow, 04 March (HS) :    The Uttar Pradesh Assembly was adjourned sine die on Thursday after the house passed the annual budget amid huge ruckus by the opposition. The Budget Session of the Assembly was adjourned a week ahead as it was scheduled till March 10.

The Budget Session of the UP Assembly was began here on February 18 with Governor Anandiben Patel’s address to a joint sitting of both the houses. The Yogi Government had presented its budget of Rs 5,50,270.78 crore for financial year of 2021-22 in both the houses on February 22.

The session had to continue till March 10, but as soon as the house met on Thursday the Parliamentary Minister Suresh Kumar Khanna said that the house should be adjourned today because of the upcoming panchayat polls.

However, the members of opposition parties opposed Mr Khanna’s proposal but the proceedings of the house was adjourned sine die after the budget and four bills were passed by a voice vote in absent of the opposition as they staged walkout in protest.

 Leader of Opposition Ram Govind Chaudhary says that the adjournment of the house before its scheduled proceedings is the murder of democracy and democratic values. BSP Legislature Party Leader Lalji Verma and Congress Leader Aradhana Misra have also criticised the curtailing of the budget session.
