Buddhadeb Bhattacherjee writes three books despite ill health
Kolkata,03 April(HS): Former West Bengal Chief minister during the previous Left Front regime Buddhadeb Bhattcherjee who has deliberately kept himself away from politics for several years now primarily because of his illness, has written three books during the isolation period.
Informing this CPI-M party sources told here today that the octogenarian former Chief minister for about a decade till early 2011 who has been suffering from various old-age related ailments including the chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) for a long time, has kept himself isolated in his two-bedroom flat in South Kolkata for long.
‘He spends most his time reading books and writing some articles mainly for the Left Front Bengali mouthpiece ‘Ganashakti’, they said.
Hailing the efforts of the former Chief minister despite his critical illness, his party colleague and former two time MP Mohammad Salim in a twitter message here today said ‘It is with sheer willpower that Comrade Buddhadeb Bhattacharya has not only been able to keep himself isolated but has also penned 3 books during this time. He has not let self-isolation and ill health stop him from reading’.
Referring to the continuing and unabated interest among the common people about the life and work of this hardcore Communist leader, Salim said his ill health has failed to dominate his spirit to know about the overall socio-economic and political condition of the common people of the state as well as the whole of India.
‘The reflection of all his ideas and the present condition of the country were duly reflected in his each of this three recent books’, Salim said and hoped that his indomitable spirit would continue to remain for several more years.
