BRICS Summit: PM Modi leaves to attend sixth time, also to meet Putin,Jinping
New Delhi , Nov 12 (HS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi will leave for Brazil today i.e. Tuesday to participate in the 11th BRICS Summit. According to the statement released from the Prime Minister’s Office, Modi is attending the BRICS summit for the sixth time. The theme of this summit is “Economic Growth for an Innovative Future”.
During this summit, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will also meet Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping separately. He will also participate in the closing ceremony of the BRICS Business Forum. Apart from this, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will also participate in a meeting with the BRICS leaders of the BRICS Business Council.
According to sources, a large delegation of industrialists from India can also be present during PM Narendra Modi’s visit. This delegation will especially participate in the BRICS Business Forum where the business community of all five countries will be present. For the first time, PM Narendra Modi attended the summit in Fortaleza, Brazil in 2014.
BRICS is a group of five emerging economies – Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa. All member countries represent 42 percent of the world’s population and 23 percent of the world’s GDP. Their share in world trade is 17 percent. The first formal summit of this summit was held on 14 June 2009 in Russia. The issue of this summit was ‘Improvement in global economic condition and financial institutions’.
