BRICS Summit: PM Modi Engages Putin in Bilateral Talks
Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Russia for the 16th BRICS Summit, held in Kazan on October 22. During his two-day visit, Modi plans to hold bilateral talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin. Additionally, he may meet other global leaders, including China’s President Xi Jinping.
This year’s summit, themed “Strengthening Multilateralism for Just Global Development and Security,” offers a platform for addressing pressing global issues. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) emphasized that the leaders will discuss topics like economic cooperation, climate change, resilient supply chains, and cultural exchange.
India’s strong commitment to BRICS is evident in this visit. Ambassador Vinay Kumar reaffirmed India’s dedication as a founding member of BRICS, focused on fostering economic collaboration within the group. As BRICS continues to expand, interest from other nations to cooperate with this emerging bloc grows.
