After 15 months of devastating war, Israel and Hamas reached a ceasefire agreement, brokered by Qatar, the United States, and Egypt. The agreement aims to end the bloodshed and bring some relief to Gaza, which is left in ruins.

The plan is divided into three phases, with the first phase set to begin on January 19, 2025. In this phase, hostages, including children, will be released, and Palestinians will be allowed to return to their homes in Gaza. Humanitarian assistance will also surge, providing essential supplies to civilians.

During this phase, Israel will continue to negotiate the second phase. The second phase will see the return of remaining Israeli hostages, including soldiers, and a permanent ceasefire will be implemented. However, full Israeli withdrawal from Gaza will only occur once all hostages are returned.

The third phase will focus on Gaza’s reconstruction, which has been severely damaged. Israeli forces will continue airstrikes until the agreement fully takes effect. Despite the ongoing violence, Gazans have expressed hope for the ceasefire, even though rebuilding their lives will take time.

The United Nations is set to provide humanitarian aid, with significant food supplies ready at the border. However, details of the second and third phases remain under negotiation.
