The National Education Policy (NEP) has confirmed that board exams for Class 10 and Class 12 will proceed as scheduled, with no changes, stated Dinesh Saklani, Director of the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT). Saklani addressed growing concerns over the exams, reassuring that they remain intact according to the NEP guidelines.

“There’s no need for confusion regarding the board exams; it’s clearly outlined in the policy,” Saklani said, as reported by Odisha TV. His comments put to rest any doubts about the fate of these crucial exams. Students can expect the same structure and schedule as before.

For younger students in Class 5 and Class 8, the NEP introduces exams designed to prepare them for the shift to secondary education. Students who don’t perform well will have another opportunity to improve, promoting a flexible, supportive learning environment. This approach ensures that students can advance without being penalized for initial setbacks.

Saklani also discussed the 5+3+3+4 education structure introduced by the NEP. This new framework splits secondary education into two distinct phases. Grades 9 and 10 fall into the first phase, while Grade 12 represents the second phase, laying a clear path for progression.

In parallel, Odisha hosted a three-day National Workshop focusing on NEP 2020 implementation. During the event, the Union Education Minister emphasized the rollout of the National Curriculum Framework (NCF). This framework aims to transform India’s education system, bringing about significant changes in how education is structured and delivered across the country.

These developments show the NEP’s commitment to modernizing education while ensuring continuity for crucial assessments like the board exams. With a focus on flexibility and student support, the policy seeks to create a more adaptable and student-friendly education environment.
