US Secretary of State Antony Blinken stated on Tuesday that a Gaza ceasefire and hostage deal are nearly finalized. He emphasized that the agreement is “right on the brink” and closer than ever before. However, Blinken clarified that the final confirmation is pending from Hamas.

“As we sit here, we await final word from Hamas on its acceptance,” Blinken explained during an event at the Atlantic Council. Until that final approval is received, the situation remains in a delicate balance, with both sides on edge.

Blinken’s remarks highlight the tense anticipation surrounding the deal. Efforts have intensified in recent days, with negotiations approaching a critical point. The ceasefire deal, along with the potential release of hostages, has been a focal point of discussions for weeks. Although the deal is almost ready, the key factor now is Hamas’ response.

The international community watches closely, as the outcome could bring significant relief to the people of Gaza and hostages held by Hamas. If accepted, the ceasefire would mark a major step toward de-escalating the ongoing conflict, which has caused significant loss and hardship. For now, all eyes remain on Hamas, with hopes high for a positive conclusion.
