BJP Parliamentary Party meeting to be held on July 2, ahead of Budget presentation by Modi government 2.0
New Delhi, Jun.30 (HS): Before presenting the Union Budget 2019 during the second term of the ruling Narendra Modi-led government, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)’s Parliamentary Party meeting would be held in the Parliament Library in New Delhi on July 2.
A press release by the Parliament Office secretary states that a meeting of BJP’s Parliamentary Party would be held on July 2 in the GMC Balayogi Auditorium of Parliament Library Building (PLB). All the members of BJP from the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha are requested to attend the meeting on time.
This is the first parliamentary party meeting by the saffron party which comes ahead of the presenting of Budget by the country’s first woman Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on July 5.
The first BJP’s Parliamentary party meeting was earlier scheduled on June 25 which was postponed due to the sudden demise of Rajasthan unit BJP President and Rajya Sabha (RS) member, Madan Lal Saini.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to lay down the agenda for its near 380 Members of Parliament (MPs), the highest-ever tally of saffron party’s leaders in Parliament.
Modi is expected to speak about the key decisions undertaken by the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government since it assumed power in May this year.
Apart, from the significance of the ongoing session of Parliament, the Modi government would present its first budget including the passage of various significant bills.
Though, there has been no official word about the government’s agenda, it has been customary in the Parliamentary Party meeting to facilitate Modi following his return from any significant international events.
The prime minister returned on Saturday after attending the G-20 (Group of Twenty) summit held in Japan.
It is noteworthy that, for the first time in many decades, senior BJP veteran leaders such as L.K.Advani and Murli Manohar Joshi would be not be present in the BJP meeting as the party did not field them in the recent Lok Sabha elections, on the grounds of 75-year age bar the party had introduced for its party candidates.
