BJP MPs and Left Front MLAs in Bengal donate funds to fight COVID-19

Kolkata, 25 March (HS) ; All the 18 BJP members of Parliament  from West Bengal have donated up to Rs one crore or more each from their Local Area Development funds to the state authorities to help fight the dreaded Corona virus, while the Left Front MLAs in the state have promised Rs 10 lakh each for the same purpose setting examples to all others.
Informing this state BJP sources told Hindusthan Samachar here today that  expressing serious concern at the unabated spread of COVID- 19 in West Bengal along with the rest of the country, all the 18 Lok Sabha members of the party from the state had donated from Rs 50 lakhs to Rs 1.5 crores each from their MP LAD funds to help the state authorities fight the Corona virus  in an effective manner by setting up  various medical facilities in  different district hospitals on emergency basis.
While BJP MP from Burdwan West Surinder Singh Ahaluwalia donated  the maximum Rs 1.5 crore from his MP LAD fund, his party colleague Locket Chatterjee an MP from Hooghly, and Subhas Sarkar, MP from Bankura, donated Rs one crore each for the same purfpose.
Among others Soumitra Khan(Bishnupur MP) donated  Rs 80 lakhs,bjp MP from Purulia Jyotirmoy  Mahato,his party colleagues Nisith Pramanik (Coochbehar),Raju Bist (Darjeeling), John Barla(Alipurduar and Kunal Hembram(Midnapore) had given Rs 50 lakhs each.
In addition Sukata Majumdar,the BJP MP from Balurghat also donated Rs 30 lakhs so far, the sources informed..
Meanwhile,the leader of Left Front Legislature party in West Bengal Assembly and senior CPI-M leader Sujan Chakraborty in a letter to Chief minister Mamata Banewrjee here today pledged to donate Rs ten lakhs each from the Developmental funds of each Left Front MLAs for setting up of essential services in  their respective district hospitals in the state to fight the spread of the COVID-19 in  rural Bengal, setting examples to all others and highlighting the need to fight the unprecedented danger unitedly without caring for their different political ideologies.
