BJP condemns TMC criticism of PM’s address to the nation
Kolkata,14 April(HS): As a section of senior Trinamool Congress leaders criticised Prime minister Narendra Modi for not announcing any economic package during his address to the Nation this morning, BJP West Bengal State President Dilip Ghosh,MP feels that it is not the time of any criticism or finding faults, but to work shoulder to shoulder by everyone to overcome this unprecedented national criisis.
Commenting on the criticism of West Bengal Panchayat Minister and senior Trinamool Congress leader Subrata Mukherjee who blamed Prime Miinster Narendra Modi for not formally announcing any major economic package like a financial stimulus worth Rs 10 lakh crores,as suggested by Chief minister Mamata Banerjee, the BJP state President said it was very unfortunate that the ruling party leaders had failed to understand the basic concept of the Prime minister’s speech when he called for a national consensus and all out efforts by all to save the lives of not only the poor, the needy and the farmers, but also of every citizen by remaining united at this critical time.
Referring to the recent announcement of Union Finance minister Nirmala Sitaraman of a huge financial stimulus worth Rs 1.70 lakh crores, Ghosh said its benefits had already started reaching millions of poor, needy and the daily labourers across the nation when several thousands crores of rupees had already been sent to their accounts.
But instead of acknowledging the facts, the Chief minister here had been demanding more money, he said and lambasted the state government for the alleged corruption in the public distribution system of the state.
He also referred to the alleged attempts of the state health department to allegedly hide and suppress the actual figure of death due to Coronavirus in the state and claimed that not 7, but as many as 20 people had so far lost their lives in the killer disease . Such attempts were not seen anywhere else in the country, Ghosh alleged.
He also congratulated the people for remaining indoors even today on the Bengali New Year’s day and avoiding all sorts of usual celebrations associated this annual festivity because of the present critical time in the wake of danger posed by COVID-19.
Such ‘extraordinary measures are needed at this extraordinary time to protect the human races’, he said adding unlike all previous years, ‘we are all forced to stay home as a preventive step this year to defeat the danger of Corona Virus’. He also cited the example of similar observance of Easter Sunday by the members of Christian community across the country and the world.
Meanwhile,Chief minister Mamata Banerjee in a message through her Twitter handle today wished everybody a very happy Bengali new year and Poila Baishak and said ‘May the cheerful festival of Bangla Naba Barsha brings in good times and happiness for one and all.’
