Bihar Election 2025 Live: Two-Phase voting on Nov 6 & 11, verdict on Nov 14
The Election Commission of India announced that Bihar will vote for its Assembly on November 6 and 11 in two phases. Counting will take place on November 14. Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar called the Bihar poll the “mother of all elections,” emphasizing the massive scale of preparations.
Kumar said the Election Commission has deployed 8.5 lakh officers to manage the polls across the state. He stressed that the commission aims to ensure free, fair, and transparent elections. “We are fully prepared to conduct smooth polling across all 243 constituencies,” he added.
The Chief Election Commissioner highlighted that Bihar’s election carries special significance due to its vast geography, high population, and political influence. “Bihar has always set benchmarks for democratic participation. We expect a high voter turnout this year too,” Kumar said. He encouraged citizens to exercise their right to vote responsibly.
The Commission also announced strict security arrangements to maintain law and order during the polls. The Election Commission will deploy central and state forces at sensitive locations to prevent violence and ensure voter safety. Teams will monitor campaign spending, candidate movements, and potential violations of the Model Code of Conduct.
Kumar noted that officials have already conducted extensive reviews with district election officers and state police to ensure smooth coordination. “We will maintain close vigilance through real-time monitoring systems and flying squads,” he stated.
In the lead-up to the polls, political parties have intensified campaigns. The ruling alliance seeks to retain power, while opposition parties aim to challenge its performance on governance and employment. Bihar’s 243-member Assembly plays a crucial role in shaping the political landscape of the Hindi heartland.
Kumar added that the Commission has taken special steps to improve voter participation. New awareness programs, including school-level initiatives and social media outreach, will encourage youth and first-time voters to engage actively. “Our mission is to make every vote count,” he remarked.
Election authorities will also ensure full accessibility for senior citizens and persons with disabilities. The Commission will provide wheelchairs, ramps, and mobile voting assistance where needed. “No voter should feel left out,” Kumar said.
Earlier, the Chief Election Commissioner confirmed that polling for all 243 seats will conclude before November 22, when the current assembly’s term expires. This schedule allows enough time for government formation before the new term begins.
Kumar also mentioned that electronic voting machines (EVMs) and voter-verified paper audit trails (VVPATs) will undergo thorough testing before the polls. Training programs for election officers are already underway. “We will maintain full transparency throughout the process,” he assured.
As Bihar prepares for another high-stakes election, the political temperature is rising across the state. With over 8.5 lakh officials on duty, massive voter outreach efforts, and strong security measures, the Election Commission aims to uphold the spirit of democracy once again.
