Bengal Govt set up 12 member Expert Committee to deal with COVID-19

Kolkata, 27 March (HS): In order to fight against the deadly COVID-19 much more effectively and contain its growth, the West Bengal government today set up as 12 member high power Monitoring Committee cum Task Force with renowned doctors and medical experts.
Headed by state Health Secretary Vivek Kumar, the team comprised among others the Medical Superintendents of SSKM hospital, renowned cardiologist Apurba Roy and Medical Superintendent of Medica Super Speciality Hospital Kunal Sarkar and some others.
Apart from taking a daily stock of the entire situation in the state created due to the spread of Corona Virus, the team would advise the state authorities about how to go about it to deal with the situation in more effective manners, official sources told Hindusthan Samachar here today.
As per the latest reports, the state government with its limited resources had so far conducted preliminary tests for 269 suspected Coronavirus patients and had ordered home quarantine to over 5,000 other people after setting up a number of new facilities and isolation centres in different parts of the state to contain the disease.
A total of 10 people have so far found positive of carrying Coronavirus in their bodies in West Bengal with one person, a resident of Dum Dum in North Kolkata, succumbing to the disease on 23 March.
