Kolkata, 6 April (HS) : In order to determine any further death in West Bengal because of the Corona virus pandemic, the state government here today issued a fresh guideline for announcing any further death of Covid -19 patient in any hospital.
According to the 34 point guidelines issued by the state Health department this afternoon, the recently constituted 5 member Expert Committee of the state government would now take the final decision as per the guidelines before announcing the passing away of any COVID-19 patient.
This was done in view of large scale discrepancy between the figures of death due to Corona virus and for other diseases in West Bengal, informed sources said and referred to the last week’s announcement of the Expert Committee Chief Dr Apurba Roy when he said that altogether 7 people including two women  died of CO0VID-19 in the state, while Chief minister Mamata Banerjee and state Chief Secretary Rajiva Sinha at the same time  claimed that only 3 people had so far died of the klller disease.
Four others lost their lives in various other ailments including those like diabetes, high blood sugar and pneumonia, the Cihef minister and the CS  claimed..
In view of this from now on the doctors who have been treating COVID- 19 patients in any hospital must fill up a form containing 34 points to ensure that the person had indeed died of Corona virus and not of any other disease. This would provide the right picture of the prevailing situation in the state without causing any unnecessary panic, they said.
Meanwhile, since the death of only three persons about a week ago, there is no report of any further casualty in West Bengal since the break out of COVID-19 in the state, while another about 59 people tested positive of the same disease so far and are being treated in different hospitals.Five other people have also been fully recovered and returned to their homes, official sources said.
