Bengal Governor vent his anger on senior IPS officer.
Barrackpore(North 24 Parganas)/Kolkata, Jan 30(HS): The ongoing confrontation between the Constitutional Head of the state and West Bengal State Administration took a new turn today when Governor Jagdeep Dhankar openly criticized the Police Commissioner Manoj Verma for his alleged dereliction of duty in his presence.
Watching the Police Commissioner reading a newspaper in the midst of an official program to observe the 72nd death anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, the Father of the Nation, at his memorial at the picturesque Gandhi Ghat, the Governor said, “What are you doing? You must be ashamed of yourself for showing disrespect to the Father of the Nation while on official duty.”
Without stopping at that point, the Governor before his departure after the program, also blamed Verma, for the alleged steady deterioration of law and order in the district and blamed the police for taking no tangible action to prevent violence.
