BCCI orders KKR to release Mustafizur Rahman amid controversy
Kolkata – The BCCI has instructed Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) to release Bangladesh pacer Mustafizur Rahman from their IPL 2026 squad. The decision comes after rising public and political pressure. BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia confirmed the directive on Friday.
Saikia explained that the board initially followed a “wait and watch” policy. However, “recent developments all across” compelled the board to act, he said. The remark refers to the ongoing political tension and protests linked to the situation in Bangladesh.

“Due to recent developments, BCCI has instructed KKR to release Mustafizur Rahman. If the team wants a replacement, the BCCI will allow it,” Saikia told ANI.
