Bangladesh launches ‘Operation Devil Hunt,’ 40 arrested
After recent violence in Bangladesh, the government launched “Operation Devil Hunt,” arresting 40 people. The violence erupted in Gazipur district, located on the outskirts of Dhaka. Activists from a student group attacked symbols and properties tied to former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s Awami League party. The mob also targeted the residence of former Liberation War Affairs Minister Mozammel Haque.
Reports indicate that the attack left 14 people injured, adding to the unrest. The government swiftly intervened. Chief Advisor Professor Muhammad Yunus ordered a special operation late Friday to restore control and apprehend the suspects.
Ghazipur’s Superintendent of Police, Chaudhry Jaber Sadiq, confirmed that the operation covered multiple areas. As of now, 40 people have been arrested in connection with the incident. The ongoing operation aims to further stabilize the situation and deter future unrest.
