Azam Khan likely to apologize for objectionable remarks against Dy Speaker Rama Devi

New Delhi, July. 26(HS): Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Azam Khan who made objectionable remarks against Lok Sabha (LS) Deputy speaker and BJP member Rama Devi on Thursday is likely to apologize unconditionally in the House of the Parliament failing which an action may be taken against him.
 According to sources, several  leaders from all political parties had attended a meeting convened by Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla on the issue.
A leader who attended the meeting said the SP leader would be asked to apologize to the woman member.
Another leader who attended the meeting said that Khan would be asked to apologize unconditionally to the satisfaction of the House and if he did not do so, further action would follow.
Members cutting across the party lines on Friday demanding strong action against Azam Khan with union Textiles Minister Smriti Irani, Union Law minister Ravi Shankar Prasad, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP)’s Supriya Sule, Trinamool Congress (TMC) members Mimi Chakraborty and Kalyan Banerjee, union Defence minister Nirmala Sitharaman, Former External Affairs minister Sushma Swaraj, Biju Janata Dal (BJD)’s B. Mahtab were among the political leaders condeming the objectionable remarks made by Azam Khan on Thursday during the debate regarding the Triple Talaq Bill in the Lok Sabha on Thursday.
The LS Speaker Om Birla had earlier told the members of the House that he would arrive at a decision shortly after consulting leaders of several  political parties on Azam Khan.
It is noteworthy that, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) members had sought an apology from Khan which he refused on Thursday. Earlier, SP supremo Akhilesh Yadav had defended Khan’s comments.
