The Public Works Department (PWD), with the district administration’s support, demolished illegal constructions on the Bahraich-Banda Road in Lalauli on Tuesday. The action targeted encroachments, including structures linked to the Noori Masjid Management Committee. A heavy police force and PAC personnel were deployed to maintain peace during the operation.

Earlier, on August 17, the PWD had issued a notice to the committee regarding the unauthorized construction. Despite assurances from the mosque’s management to self-demolish the illegal structures, no action was taken. As a result, the joint team proceeded to remove the encroachments using bulldozers on September 24.

The widening project for Bahraich-Banda Road necessitated clearing obstructions to ensure smooth progress. Vijay Shankar Mishra, Additional Superintendent of Police, stated that such actions were part of the broader campaign to eliminate illegal structures obstructing state highways. The district administration ensured law and order while addressing community concerns.

This operation marks another step in facilitating infrastructure development while addressing encroachments through legal and administrative frameworks.
