Army foiled infiltration bid in Poonch

Poonch 30 August, (HS) : In a major success Army today foiled an infiltration bid along LOC in Noor kote area of Degwar Sector of Poonch Distt.

Army sources said that early this morning army jawans noticed suspicious movement on LOC near Chandan Post. They chased the infiltrators who opened fire on Army and the exchange of fire started. Sources said 2-3 militants were killed while only one body was recovered and others still lying in the area. Sources further said that a body was pushed back by militants while 2 were still lying on no man’s land at LOC, however Indian army launched search operation in the area to recover more dead bodies

Def Pro Devinder Anand said a terrorist from across the Line of Control made an attempt to infiltrate in Degwar Sector of Poonch District. Alert Army troops detected the infiltration bid by effective use of the integrated surveillance grid. On being challenged by Army troops, there ensued a fierce firefight with the terrorist in which one terrorist was neutralised and his body along with an AK-47 rifle has been recovered. Pro Further added that the operation is still in progress in the area.

This action by alert Army troops displays the resolve of Indian Army to thwart any misadventure along the Line of Control.
