Army Chief Gen Bipin Rawat commemorates 20 yrs of Kargil War
New Delhi, July. 5 (HS): Army Chief General Bipin Rawat on Friday commemorated 20 years of the 1999 Kargil war victory of India against Pakistan at an event held at the Manekshaw Centre in Delhi Cantonment.
The Army Chief said that Pakistan would not dare to attempt to inflitrate India like it did in Kargil in 1999 since it had “seen the consequences” and asserted that the armed forces were keeping a tight watch over the nation’s borders.
Rawat said the war battle was indeed a historical event and it was the time to celebrate and rejoice at such events.
He cautioned Pakistan saying that any task entrusted to the Indian Army Command or any other troops in whichever part of the world they are deployed, they are prepared to deal with any war-like situation and would perform their responsibilities with equal professionalism and capabilities.
While addressing the media on the sidelines of the event commemorating 20 years of ‘Operation Vijay’, India’s limited war against Pakistan in Kargil.
On being asked whether Pakistan can attempt a Kargil-like inflitration, Gen. Rawat said, “There was no such area that we have left unguarded. Our surveillance team is keeping a tight watch and regularly patrolling the areas. In the coming days and years, Pakistan would not dare to attempt any infiltration”.
The Army Chief also released a video giving a special tribute dedicated to the brave Kargil war heroes. This video featured Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan and a host of other film celebrities.
