Apprehension of Seven dreaded KLO Cadres
Kokrajhar,08 May(HS): After the surrender of NDFB and signing of Bodo Accord, Kamtapur Liberation Organisation (KLO) had been continuously striving to gain prominence in lower Assam and was recently found involved in large scale recruitment.
On receipt of confirmed input about KLO recruitment module operational in Chakrasila Reserve Forest, a Joint Operations was launched by Indian Army along with Assam Police on 07 May in Kokrajhar. The highly coordinated and successful operation resulted in busting of the KLO Recruitment module and apprehension of seven dreaded KLO Cadres.
The Recruitment Module was operational since December 2019 and was being run by one Lankeshwar Koch @ Lambu; Myanmar trained self-styled area commander of lower Assam, along with four Bangladesh trained and two newly recruited cadres.
Since the last two months, numbers of operations were launched to apprehend this module which had restricted these cadres in contacting local youth for recruitment. The cadres were finally caught while they were attending a meeting inside the forest. Huge quantity of arms and ammunition to include 04 Factory-Made Pistols and 03 Country Made Pistols were seized from their possession.
Apprehension of 7 cadres and busting of recruitment module has dealt a severe blow to the ulterior motives of KLO which has been trying hard to gain prominence after the disbandment of NDFB. The successful operations will help in lowering the morale of the insurgent organization and boost the confidence of security forces.
