Anti-CAA stir: RJD calls for ‘Bihar bandh’ on December 21
Patna, Dec 21(HS): The Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) has called a Bihar bandh on Saturday to protest against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and possible NRC (NRC). In view of this, the administration has made elaborate security arrangements across the state and the police headquarters has also issued an alert.
In view of the bandh, 50 magistrates have also been deployed in the capital Patna with two thousand additional police forces. At the same time, RJD workers have come out on the streets in different districts of Bihar, agitators in Bihar’s Jehanabad stopped a Janshatabdi Express train on Saturday.
More than a dozen protesters who stopped the express train at Jehanabad station resorted to sloganeering. The agitators are raising slogans, “Lalu Yadav zindabad… NRC ko wapas Lena Hoga… Rashtriya Janata Dal zindabad.The Patna-Chhapra-Hajipur-Muzaffarpur main road was also blocked.
Hundreds of Jehanabad RJD activists set fire to the train going from Patna on the railway track. At the same time, tires of many vehicles were fired on NH 83, due to which the vehicles stopped operating and there was a long queue of trains on NH. RJD activists blocked Ramashish Chowk and protested strongly against the NRC bill and the new citizenship amendment law.
