Telangana :Hyderabad: March 16:Telangana Assembly passed the anti -CAA ( Citizenship Amendment Act)   resolution today thus  joining  the ranks of other states opposing the central Act. Kerala, Punjab, Rajasthan and West Bengal have already passed anti-CAA resolutions in their respective State Assemblies
Earlier the Telangana state cabinet has endorsed its opposition to CAA  and urging the Centre to repeal Citizenship Amendment Act. It also appealed to the Centre “not to discriminate” on the basis of religion in granting citizenship to anyone.
The Chief Minister Chandrasekhar Rao said that the most irritating thing about Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) is that it goes against the very fabric of the Constitution of India which promises to treat all citizens equally irrespective of their religion, caste and creed. “No civilised society will accept a law which keeps out people of one particular religion,” he said.
MIM floor  leader Akbaruddin Owaisi called the act as discriminatory and unconstitutional. NRC,CAA &NPR is not only against Muslims but also against all sections of society he added.
The Congress supported  while the BJP opposed the resolution.
