Animal Welfare Board to evacuate stranded animals in Pet Shops
Kolkata, 26 March (HS): The Animal Welfare Board of India’ today issued an advisory to its West Bengal state unit asking the members to evacuate all stranded animals of pet shops and elsewhere in accordance with the provisions of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (PCAs) Acts.
Expressing serious concern at the condition of pet animals in many shops in the midst of current lock down situation because of the Corona virus, Borad in its communique had asked its members to ensures that no animal should suffer and die under the present condition and that they must not go without food and water and without having any temperature control in their surrounding areas.
As PCAs are usually headed by District Magistrates, every District administration in West Bengal and all other states should check and evacuate all such hapless animals immediately and take proper care for them till the nomalisation of the situation, the Board said .
