New Delhi , Nov 27 (HS): Union Home Minister Amit Shah introduced the SPG amendment bill in the Lok Sabha on Wednesday afternoon. Amit Shah said that we have brought this bill for some changes in this law, initially, SPG used to work under an executive order. Later a law was made, after which the Special Protection Group started working. Shah said that now only the current Prime Minister will get this security, besides the former Prime Minister’s family will get this facility for five years.

Some changes have been made in the SPG rules by the Central Government, due to which SPG security has been withdrawn from the Gandhi family. There was a lot of uproar on this issue from Congress. Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi used to get SPG security till now but now their security has gone into the hands of CRPF.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah said that it was amended in 1991-94, even after that it was amended many times. The Home Minister said that after the amendment, the Act will be made, after that it will be available to the Prime Minister and his family members. Those who live at the Prime Minister’s residence will get this. At the same time, the former Prime Minister and his family will get SPG protection for a period of five years.

In the Lok Sabha, Amit Shah said that the Prime Minister takes many drastic decisions, which remain important in the country and internationally. This is needed to secure the Prime Minister. Amit Shah said that it has its original meaning in the name of SPG, its entire system has been made according to the post.

Amit Shah said that the committee formed after the assassination of Indira Gandhi had demanded such a group. In this, it is not only about the safety of any person, but this group also gives security to their post, office and all other things.

The Home Minister said that such groups have been formed in many countries of the world. Our only aim is to make it more important. I request the House to unanimously pass all the bills.

During the discussion on this bill, Congress MP in Lok Sabha Manish Tiwari said that today we have gathered to talk on a very sensitive bill which is related to PM’s security. I said that history is a witness to the fact that whenever such negative steps have been taken, this country has suffered a huge loss.

Manish Tiwari said why the government provides security to a person. Police arrangements have been made to protect the people. Then the government indicates that there are some people who need protection from the government. Security is provided in different categories according to the Threat Assessment. This is a Threat Assessment, is it perfect science?
