The political turmoil over Amit Shah’s remarks on BR Ambedkar escalated into dramatic protests in Parliament. On Thursday, opposition MPs, including Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi, climbed the Makar Dwar of Parliament, demanding an apology from Home Minister Amit Shah.

This protest was in response to Shah’s controversial comments made in the Rajya Sabha on Tuesday, where he suggested that Congress leaders would have earned a place in heaven had they chanted God’s name as often as they repeat Ambedkar’s. Shah criticized the Congress for making Ambedkar’s name a “fashion” and implied that their reverence lacked sincerity.

The remarks fueled an already heated debate, with the Congress-led opposition accusing the BJP of undermining Ambedkar’s legacy. Opposition MPs also called for Shah’s resignation, further intensifying the standoff.

Amid this uproar, two BJP MPs were injured. Mukesh Rajput, one of the MPs, was seriously hurt and admitted to ICU at Delhi’s Ram Manohar Lohiya Hospital.

The injuries occurred after an alleged push by Congress MP Rahul Gandhi, which led to a physical altercation. BJP MP Pratap Chandra Sarangi claimed that Rahul pushed an MP, causing him to fall and injure him.

Rahul Gandhi responded, stating that he was only trying to enter Parliament and had been threatened and obstructed by BJP MPs. He denied any aggression. Meanwhile, Congress shared a video showing party leaders, including Priyanka Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge, allegedly being stopped by BJP MPs.

This ongoing conflict highlights the deepening political divide and the intense scrutiny of Shah’s remarks on Ambedkar. The protests in Parliament reflect a broader battle over political narratives, with both parties accusing each other of disrespecting the nation’s founding figures.
