In a major step toward expanding e-commerce access, Amazon and the Department of Posts (DoP) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to boost logistics collaboration across India. This partnership aims to deliver goods to even the remotest parts of the country, allowing more people to benefit from e-commerce services.

The MoU was signed by Kushal Vashist, General Manager of DoP’s Parcel Directorate, and Venkatesh Tiwari, Director of Operations at Amazon. Senior officials from both organizations, including Vandita Kaul, Secretary (Posts), and Aman Jain, Director of Public Policy at Amazon, attended the event.

Amazon will leverage the vast postal network, which includes over 1.6 lakh post offices, to enhance parcel delivery to remote areas. This collaboration allows Amazon to tap into DoP’s infrastructure, improving the reach of its e-commerce services.

The agreement outlines key areas of cooperation, including synchronization of logistics, knowledge-sharing, and capacity enhancement. Quarterly reviews will track progress and explore new opportunities to strengthen the partnership. Both sides aim to streamline logistics, creating new business and employment opportunities.

For India Post, the partnership will boost its parcel business by increasing its involvement in e-commerce logistics. By working closely with Amazon, DoP will improve operational efficiency and contribute to India’s vision of becoming a global logistics hub.

This collaboration will not only improve e-commerce accessibility in rural areas but also support economic growth by enhancing job creation and business expansion.
