Agartala Airport to be upgraded to International standard

New Delhi, Jun. 18(HS): According to Tripura Transport and Tourism Minister, Pranajit Singha Roy, Airport Authority of India in in process of upgradation of Agartala’s Maharaja Bir Bikram Airport to the international one with all world class facilities by the year end.
In the process, 72 acres of land has been provided by the state for construction of terminal and needed infrastructure and Rs. 438 crores of funds have been infused in the ongoing works of up-gradation.
After completion of the project, the flights between Dhaka and Agartala and to other Bangladesh major cities will be operated as it is situated on border with Bangladesh.
It is noteworthy that Agartala’s airport is the second most used airport with 9 lakh passengers after Guwahati’s Lokpriya Gopinath Airport in Northeast.
