Actor Prasenjit Chatterjee appeared before ED officials to face their questions
Kolkata, July.19 (HS): In less than 24 hours after well known film personality Rituparna Sengupta, another popular Bengali movie star Prasenjit Chatterjee today appeared before the Enforcement Directorate (ED) officials here to reply to their queries in connection with his alleged involvement in the multi crore rupees Rosevalley financial scam which rocked the nation a few years ago.
According to sources at ED this afternoon,Chatterjee,who is the son of former cine star Biswajit of yesteryears and has appeared in more than 180 movies, many of them super hits by all counts, reached the ED office at Salt Lake along with his lawyers to face the investigating officials who reportedly began their questioning soon after his arrival.
Later after coming out from the ED office after nearly four hour long questioning at 6-30 p.m., Chatterjee said he had replied all their queries related to his alleged involvement with Rosevally and how far he knew its owner Gautam Kundu.
‘I have replied to all their queries to the best of my abilities and have assured them of all my cooperation in their investigation’,he said adding that he would also make himself available before the central investigating agency as and when asked for.
Earlier yesterday responding to similar summon Rituparna Sengupta appeared before the ED officials to reply to queries in connection with her alleged involvement in the same multi crore rupee Investment scam as one of its beneficiaries.
After coming out following a marathon seven hour long grilling she also said that she had replied to all their queries to the best of her ability but refused to disclose any further
After a lull of more than a year, earlier this month ED also summoned Trinamool Congress MP and well known film actress Satabdi Roy who is also a TMC MP from Birbhum and faced the questions for several hours.
Former Trinamool Congress minister Madan Mitra was also called and questioned by ED officials for over four hours at the CGO complex here on 6 July to know more about his alleged involvement in the same Rosevally financial scam.In addition noted painter Subaprasanna and former Cpi-m leader Laxman Seth were also grilled by CBI and ED officials in connection with their alleged involvement in Saradha financial scam of 2012.
