Kolkata,07 May(HS): With another police official getting affected by Coronavirus in the city today, altogether 9 police personnel attached with different police stations in Kolkata alone have so far been affected by the killer disease and sent to different hospitals sending shockwaves among a section of the Kolkata Police Force.
In the latest such incident during the last three days, one senior police official attached with Park Street Police Station in South Kolkata developed early symptoms of Covid 19 like fever and dry cough while on duty in the police station. Soon he was sent for a  medical test which turned out to be Covid-19 positive. The officer aged 44 was immediately admitted to the city main Covid-19 hospital.
Like the two other police stations during yesterday and the day before, the entire Park Street police station complex was sanitized and all colleagues of the affected police officers had been asked to take all precautions and conduct their Covid-19 tests too to ensure that none of them was also affected by the disease.
Though unlike the Jorabagar police station in central Kolkata, areas around the Park Street police station has not yet been declared as the Containment zone, the entire area has however been barricaded as a preventive measure. like the step taken around the Bowbazar police station yesterday.
With today’s incident altogether 9 senior police officers of Kolkata Police alone have so far been affected by the Coronavirus and are being treated at different hospitals causing serious concern and some sort of panic among a section of the police force in the city.
However, senior police officials including City Police Commissioner Anuj Sharma have been making all-out efforts to encourage the members of the force in this present hour of National crisis and are even visiting the affected police stations at Jorabagan, Bowbazar and Park Street promising all help and assistance to their colleagues and urging them not to lose heart.
