8171 new cases of covid-19 reported in 24 hours
New Delhi, June 2 (HS): The death toll due to corona virus in the last 24 hours has been reported as 204, taking the total deaths to 5,598 in the country on Tuesday. Besides, 8,171 new cases have been reported during the same period taking the number of infections to over 1.98 lakh, a Health Ministry official said.
Of these, the active cases of Corona virus are reported to be 97,581 while 95,526 people (48.07 percent) have recovered from the pandemic.
In the same period, Maharashtra tops with 76 deaths, while 50 deaths were reported in Delhi, 25 in Gujarat and 11 in Tamil Nadu.
Maharashtra also tops in total deaths at 2,362 out of the 5,598 deaths countrywide, followed by 1,063 in Gujarat, 523 in Delhi, 358 in Madhya Pradesh and 335 in West Bengal.
With a total of 1,98,706 cases, India is now seventh among the worst-hit nations. US, UK, Italy, France and Spain still top the list.
