All District collectors and SPs and department secretaries have  been directed to rush to the capital to take part in emergency meeting to contain Covid -19 in the state.
What apparently made the Chief Minister convene the high-level meeting on Thursday was a report that a religious preacher from Indonesia, who tested positive for Coronavirus on Tuesday, may have left a trail of hundreds if not thousands of primary contacts.
He opted  a flight to New Delhi and then sought to travel by train. He travelled by Sampark Kranti Express upto Ramagundam on 14th March thereby infecting close to 88 suspects who were his co-passengers in S9 coach of train no 12708 that originated from New Delhi to reach Tirupathi next day. Railways have not yet clarified whether the said  coaches were sanitised to carry passengers next day.
Both Telangana and Andhra Pradesh states have been alerted and railways have dutifully handed over the list of passengers who travelled on that fateful day.State govt has appealed passengers to get themselves admitted for further tests are they may have been infected by religous preacher. Also the state govt fears the worst with this preacher having addressed and attended numerous religous meets in Karimnagar town.
Police have cardoned off the mosque near the district collectorate and quarantined the town and 100 medical teams have been rushed from Hyderabad. The crux of the matter is religious preacher had exposed himself to a sizeable number of people had placed the officials on a high state of alert. Door to Door medical check ups are initiated when the reports last came in.
A high level emergency meeting has been convened on Thursday to discuss the measures to be taken to prevent the spread of coronavirus in the state.
