65 killed, 38 injured, 35 missing in Nepal due to heavy rains
Kathmandu/New Delhi, July.15 (HS): In Nepal, 65 people have died due to landslides and floods. 38 are injured 35 people are missing. The Home Ministry said that 25 districts are under grip of heavy rainfall.
Water is flooded on the streets. Rescue teams are busy evacuating people from flooded areas. Boats are running on the roads. Nepal Police Headquarters said that on 831 people have been evacuated. Senior police superintendent Ramesh Thapa told that at least 27,830 police personnel in the country are engaged in rescue work.More than 25 districts and 10,385 families affected by heavy rains . Nepal Army and policemen have taken 1,104 people to safer places.
The Flood Forecasting Division (FFS) has said that monsoon is active and rain will continue for most of the country in the next two to three days. The Weather Forecasting Department (MFD) has warned people to be very alert and said that air and road traffic may be affected due to low visibility. Water levels of rivers have increased due to heavy rains.
Prime Minister Khadga Prasad Sharma Oli tweeted, “I am deeply sorry for the families of those killed in the calamity”, expressing condolences for the families of those killed in floods and landslides.
